There are many tutorials and online videos on how to shuck an oyster! If you are eating them raw on ice, you need to shuck them. However, if you don’t want to mess with learning how to shuck an oyster, there are many ways to cook oysters (grilling, baking, broiling) in which your oysters will open on their own! Below is a video created by Stef on how we shuck our Little Ram oysters!

HOW DO I OPEN MY OYSTERS?

HOW LONG WILL MY OYSTERS KEEP?

Your oysters will keep in the refrigerator for 7-10 days. However, we suggest eating them right away for the true sea-to-table experience!

HOW DO I STORE MY OYSTERS?

DO NOT STORE YOUR OYSTERS IN WATER!

Your oysters need to be refrigerated as soon as you receive or pick up your oysters. If you received your oysters in a mesh bag, put the whole mesh bag of oysters in a mixing bowl, cover with a damp kitchen towel, and put them in the refrigerator. If you received your oysters in a burlap bag, dump the oysters out into a mixing bowl, wet the burlap bag, cover the oysters with the damp burlap bag and put them in the refrigerator. The bowl keeps the oysters from leaking in your refrigerator. The damp towel or burlap bag keeps the oysters moist and cool.

SHOULD I PUT MY OYSTERS ON ICE?

Only put the oysters on ice right before you are ready to eat them or serve them. Oysters will die in fresh water. Never store your oysters on ice. And don’t let shucked oysters sit out on ice for too long- the ice will melt and the oysters will drown.
